ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sign stand for mounting a sign in a specific position above a concrete barrier extending alongside a roadway. An inner portion of a base plate is secured under the barrier and a collar extends upwardly from an outer portion of the base plate. A stop flange across the base plate also prevents it from turning. A post has a lower vertical portion which is secured in the collar by setscrews and an upper vertical portion to which the sign is clamped. The upper portion of the post is offset from the lower portion by an angular portion extending between them. Thus, the sign can be positioned horizontally relative to the barrier to provide the exact clearance required for mowers, snowplows and traffic merely by turning the post in the collar and tightening the setscrews.
