23233-275 ABSTRACT The invention relates to novel phenylfuroxans of the general formula I Image (I) in which one of the radicals R1 and R2 represents phenyl and the other represents -S(O)n-R3, -OR , Image or Image wherein the radicals R3, R4, R6 and R7 represent, for example C1-C6-alkyl, C3-C6-alkyl, hydroxyl and hydrogen, respectively. The compounds of formula I have useful pharmacological properties and can be used in humans for the control or prevention of disorders of the cardiovascular system, for example as anti-hypertensive medicines in the various forms of high blood pressure and in the control or prevention of angina pectoris.
