A first coupling member has a peripheral facing surface with a pair of annular raised locking tabs (76, 78), each of a different length and width. A second coupling member has a lock ring (40) longitudinally slidable thereon with a facing surface having a pair of annular slots (64, 66) sized to correspond to the respective annular tabs. A resilient annular spring (42) mounted within the lock ring urges it toward the first coupling member so that the locking tabs engage their respective slots when the coupling is tightened to a predetermined extent during rotation in the locking direction to releasably and positively lock the coupling. An indicator strip (74) on the peripheral edge of the first coupling member is exposed before the locking tabs and slots are engaged. Alignment between the respective locking tabs and slots allows longitudinal movement of the lock ring so that it covers the indicator stripe. One of the coupling members has a peripheral groove and two angularly spaced longitudinal keyways of differing widths which intersect the peripheral groove. The annular spring has an internal peripheral edge with a plurality of peripherally spaced spring tabs for holding it in the peripheral groove. A spring key on the internal peripheral edge of the annular spring has a width corresponding to the width of one of the keyways to rotationally position the annular spring with the coupling member. The annular wall of the lock ring has two angularly spaced keys of differing widths which correspond to the widths of the keyways and are received therein to angularly position the lock ring with the coupling member and the spring.

Un second élément de raccordement comporte une bague de verrouillage (40) qui coulisse longitudinalement et dont l'une des surfaces présente une paire de d'ergots annulaires de blocage (76, 78) d'une taille correspondant à celles des encoches annulaires. Un jonc annulaire résilient (42) monté dans la bague de verrouillage force cette dernière vers le premier élément de raccordement de telle sorte que les ergots de blocage s'engagent dans leurs encoches respectives lorsque le raccord est serré d'une valeur déterminée pendant la rotation dans le sens de verrouillage, ce qui entraîne le verrouillage libérable du raccord. Une bande témoin (74) sur le bord périphérique du premier élément de raccordement reste visible tant que les ergots et les encoches de blocage respectifs ne sont pas emboîtés les uns dans les autres. Une fois les ergots et les encoches emboîtés, la bague de verrouillage peut coulisser et vient cacher la bande témoin. L'un des éléments de raccordement comporte une gorge périphérique et deux chemins de clavette espacés dans le plan angulaire, de largeur différente, qui coupent la gorge périphérique. Le ressort annulaire possède un bord périphérique interne avec plusieurs ergots élastiques espacés sur cette périphérie qui le maintiennent dans la gorge périphérique. Sur le bord périphérique interne du jong, on trouve une clavette élastique dont la largeur correspond à la largeur de l'un des chemins de clavette. La paroi annulaire de la bague de verrouillage comporte deux clavettes espacées dans le plan angulaire et de largeur différente correspondant à la largeur des chemins de clavette dans lesquels elles viennent se loger pour positionner la bague de verrouillage par rapport à l'élément de raccordement et au ressort.
