A method for preventing, ameliorating, and/or treating memory and other cognitive disorders associated with aging, such as Age-Associated Memory Impairment (also known as Age-Related Cognitive Decline), and other age- related impairments of, and/or changes in, cognitive function. The method comprises administering to a subject a therapeutically effective amount of a lipid-soluble thiamine or a prodrug thereof in an amount averaging from about 0.02 to about 0.5 grams per day per 70 kg body weight over a period of three months or longer.
L'invention a trait à une méthode permettant de prévenir, d'atténuer et/ou de traiter des troubles de la mémoire et autres troubles cognitifs liés au vieillissement, notamment les troubles de mémoire liés à l'âge ainsi que d'autres défaillances de la fonction cognitive associées à l'âge et/ou des changements survenus dans cette fonction. La méthode consiste à administrer au sujet une quantité efficace du point de vue thérapeutique de thiamine liposoluble ou l'un de ses promédicaments en quantité s'échelonnant entre environ 0,02 et 0,5 grammes par jour pour un individu pesant 70 kilos et ce, pendant trois mois ou plus.
