Disclosed are novel inhibitors of metalloproteases, in particular matrix metalloproteases. The disclosed inhibitors are mercaptoketone and mercaptoalcohol compounds which are useful in pharmaceutical compositions and methods for treating or controlling disease states or conditions which involve tissue breakdown, for example, arthropathy, dermatological conditions, bone resorption, inflammatory diseases, and tumor invasion and in the promotion of wound healing.

Ces inhibiteurs sont des composés de mercaptocétone et de mercaptoalcool, utiles dans des compositions pharmaceutiques et dans des procédés thérapeutiques ou prophylactiques concernant des maladies ou des états pathologiques impliquant la rupture tissulaire, tels que l'arthropathie, des troubles dermatologiques, la résorption osseuse, des maladies inflammatoires, ainsi que la prolifération de tumeurs, et utiles également pour accélérer la cicatrisation des blessures.
