The present invention relates to burst mode digital communication systems where data transmission is preceded by a preamble for acquisition of carrier and clock synchronization using maximum likelihood (ML) principle. The optimization algorithms consist of three parts. The first part (Step 1, Step 2) deals with isolating the desired optimal estimate from non-optimal extremes satisfying the same necessary condition, and provides the initial conditions for activating the binary search schemes. The second part (Step 3) performs the binary search for the optimal timing estimate that guarantees the convergence. On the basis of the obtained iterative sequence, the last part (Step 4) constructs a more rapid convergent sequence to obtain the ML symbol timing estimate. Using the obtained symbol timing estimate, the ML carrier phase estimate can be computed explicitly, and synchronization performed.
La présente invention concerne des systèmes de communication numériques en mode rafale, dans lesquels la transmission de données est précédée par un préambule d'acquisition de porteuses et la synchronisation des horloges au moyen du principe de certitude maximale. Ce préambule est échantillonné et la série d'échantillons obtenue est traitée à l'aide d'algorithmes d'optimisation de cette invention pour produire l'estimation de synchronisation de certitude maximale. Ces algorithmes d'optimisation comportent trois parties. La première partie a trait à l'isolation de l'estimation optimale souhaitée provenant des extrêmes non optimales qui satisfont la même condition requise, et elle engendre les conditions initiales d'activation des schémas de recherche binaire. La seconde partie réalise la recherche binaire de l'estimation de synchronisation optimale qui garantit la convergence. Sur la base de la séquence itérative obtenue, la dernière partie élabore une séquence qui converge plus rapidement de manière à obtenir l'estimation de synchronisation du symbole de certitude maximale. A l'aide de l'estimation de synchronisation de symbole obtenue, l'estimation de la phase de la porteuse de certitude maximale peut être calculée explicitement et la synchronisation réalisée.
