An improved hand-held, hand-crank operated rotary drum-type grater for cheese and the like is provided. The grater (15) is adapted to incorporate molded plastic or metal components but preferably utilizes a cage-type drum body (51) having a cylindrical surface defined by a metal sheet having bladed perforations (56). The drum is insertable into either end of a cylindrical cavity defined transversely in the grater hopper (16) and thereafter is engageable with a crank (66). The drum has an internally threaded hub (61) at one end that is engageable with a threaded stub shaft (67) of the crank. The hopper has an improved integral support handle (34) and also is associated with an improved press plate (33) with an integral support arm (38).

L'invention concerne un appareil à râper le fromage et similaire, à main, à tambour rotatif et à manivelle. Ledit appareil à râper (15) comprend des composants métalliques ou en plastique moulé mais de préférence un corps de tambour (51) de type cage présentant une surface cylindrique définie par une feuille métallique à perforations (56) formant des lames. Le tambour s'insère dans une ou l'autre extrémité d'une cavité cylindrique définie transversalement dans le magasin (16) de l'appareil à râper et vient ensuite en prise avec une manivelle (66). Le tambour présente un moyeu (61) à filetage interne à une extrémité, qui vient prise avec un faux-arbre fileté (67) de la manivelle. Le magasin présente une poignée de support intégrée (34) et est associé à une plaque de compression (33) dotée d'un bras de support intégré (38).
