A tab having a body (1), a nose end with a tip (10), an opposite grip end (8), and an island (7) formed within the tab body and attached to the nose end along a hinge (12). The island includes a rivet hole (5) for receiving a rivet (4) on the can end panel (9) to attach the tab to the end panel. The tip of the nose has a gap (18) into which a protrusion (13P) can be bent or curled, to guard a cut edge.

Languette comprenant un corps (1), une extrémité avant dotée d'une pointe (10), une extrémité (8) opposée de saisie, et un îlot (7) formé dans le corps de la languette et relié à l'extrémité avant par une charnière (12). L'îlot comporte un trou (5) destiné à recevoir un rivet (4) situé sur la face (9) formant le dessus de la boîte, et servant à fixer la languette sur cette face. La pointe avant présente une ouverture (18) dans laquelle une partie saillante (13P) peut être repliée ou courbée de manière à protéger un bord coupant.
