A wavefront sensor for measuring ocular aberrations includes a calibration test component (32) and comparative calibration measurement information stored in the device to insure that the device is properly calibrated for reliable aberration measurement. Wavefront calibration, focusing calibration, and retinal illumination level monitoring are contemplated calibration measurements. An optional interlock function prevents diagnostic/therapeutic operation of the aberrometer if it is out of calibration or unsafe for use. A method for calibrating an aberrometer is described.
L'invention concerne un détecteur de front d'onde servant à mesurer des aberrations oculaires, qui comprend un élément test d'étalonnage (32) ainsi que des données comparatives de mesures d'étalonnage stockées dans le dispositif pour assurer un étalonnage approprié de ce dernier en vue de l'obtention d'une mesure d'aberration fiable. Les mesures d'étalonnage comprennent des mesures d'étalonnage de front d'onde, d'étalonnage de focalisation et de surveillance du niveau d'éclairement rétinien. L'élément d'étalonnage peut être un oeil modèle présentant une aberration de front d'onde connue ou un système de test optique à puissance dioptrique positive ou négative connue, utilisés seuls ou en combinaison. Une fonction facultative de verrouillage bloque les fonctions diagnostique/thérapeutique du dispositif si celui-ci est hors plage d'étalonnage ou s'il est dangereux à l'utilisation.
