The meter system (10) of the present invention allows for automated water utility resource measurements, data collection and exercise of control and notification of fire hydrant (100) water usage and, in one example, includes: a portable water meter (20) that is releaseably mountable onto a discharge nozzle (110) of the fire hydrant (100); a flow sensor (30) that senses the water flow rate passing therethrough the portable water meter (20); a processor (50) that is configured to receive, processs, and/or store data from the flow sensors (30); and a satellite positioning system (40), operatively coupled to the processor, that is adapted to receive satellite position determining signals. The hydrant meter system (10) further has a communication device (60) that is adapted to transmit the processed flow signal and the processed positioning signal to a remote server system (2) via a communication medium (70).
Le système de compteur (10) de cette invention permet d'effectuer des mesures automatisées de ressources d'un service d'eau, de recueillir des données et d'entraîner la commande et la notification de l'utilisation de l'eau d'une prise d'eau d'incendie (100) et, dans un exemple, il comprend un compteur portable d'eau (20) pouvant être monté amovible sur une buse de décharge (110) de ladite prise d'eau d'incendie (100), un détecteur d'écoulement (30) qui permet de détecter le débit d'eau s'écoulant à travers ledit compteur portable d'eau (20), un processeur (50) conçu pour recevoir, traiter et/ou stocker des données provenant des détecteurs d'écoulement (30) et, enfin, un système de positionnement du satellite (40) couplé fonctionnellement au processeur et conçu pour recevoir des signaux déterminant la position du satellite. Ce système de compteur de prise d'eau (10) comporte, également, un dispositif de communication (60) élaboré pour transmettre le signal d'écoulement traité et le signal de positionnement traité à un système de serveur à distance (2) via un support de communication (70).
