This invention relates to the control of polar auxin transport or auxin activity and of plant hormone levels at the molecular level. It particularly relates to nucleotide sequences of the <u>pin</u> gene, their derivatives and fragments and the encoded gene products involved in polar auxin transport, and a method for the production of new plants carrying at least one of the nucleotide sequences of the invention. Further, the invention relates to new plants showing altered plant growth, architecture, morphogenesis, branching, flowering, fruit production and/or other developmental features affected by auxin.
L'invention concerne le contrôle du transport polaire de l'auxine, ou de l'activité de l'auxine et des taux d'hormones au niveau moléculaire. En particulier, elle concerne des séquences de nucléotides du gène <u>pin</u>, leurs dérivés et des fragments, et les produits géniques codés impliqués dans le transport polaire de l'auxine. L'invention a aussi pour objet un procédé pour produire de nouvelles plantes véhiculant au moins une des séquences de nucléotides selon l'invention. En outre, l'invention concerne de nouvelles plantes présentant des caractéristiques de croissance, architecture, morphogénèse, ramification, floraison, de production de fruits et/ou autres caractéristiques de développement affectées par l'auxine.
