Abstract Therapeutic Agents A method for the treatment of heart failure in a human in need of such treatment which comprises the administration to the human of a therapeutically effective amount of an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor and a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula I Image wherein n is 1 or 2. A preferred method of the invention comprises the treatment of chronic heart failure in a human by oral administration of a compound of formula I and an ACE inhibitor. The preferred compound of formula I is 7-fluoro-1-methyl-3-methyl- sulphinyl-4-quinolone. The compound of formula I and the ACE inhibitor may be administered concomitantly or concurrently and combined preparations for simultaneous, separate or sequential use are described. Concomitant administration may be by novel pharmaceutical compositions comprising a compound of formula I, an ACE inhibitor and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
