PROCESS FOR PREPARING N-TRITYLMIDAZOLE COMPOUNDS Abstract of the Disclosure The specification discloses a process for preparing N-tritylimidazole compounds of the formula: Image [I] by the reaction between a tritylcarbinol derivative of the formula: [II] Image and an imidazole derivative of the formula: Image [III] , characterized in that the reaction is effected in the presence of a phosphorus compound of the formula: Image [IV] The process provides a novel way of producing these known compounds which avoids many of the disadvantages of the known processes for their production.
