The present invention provides a mechanism for orienting an article horizontally on a vertical wall surface. The mechanism comprises a generally horizontal reference line portion on the article and a pivot hole thereabove and utilizes an indicator element including a shaft, a pendulum mass at one end of the shaft, a pivot bar at the other end of the shaft, and an indicator line or edge on the pendulum mass. With the article suspended on the wall surface and the pivot bar received in the pivot hole the indicator line or edge will be parallel to the reference line portion when the article is properly horizontally oriented.
