A system and method in a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network for automatically configuring Network Service Entity Identifiers (NSEIs) in a Base Station System (BSS(32)) and a Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN(33)) when the BSS is reconfigured. The Gb interface between the BSS and the SGSN is modified to operate using the Internet Protocol (IP), and the BSS and the SGSN are configured to run on IP. Whenever a new Network Service Entity (NSE) is added (57) to an existing BSS. or a new BSS is added to the network, the BSS automatically sends (52) a modified Network Service (NS')-Reset message to the SGSN requesting an NSEI. The SGSN dynamically allocates (53) a tree NSEI from a pool of NSEIs and sends (54) it to the BSS. When an NSE is removed (61) from the BSS. the BSS automatically sends (62) a modified NS'-Reset message to the SGSN to free an NSEI. The SGSN de-allocates (63) the NSEI, and returns the NSEI to the pool of free NSEIs. All related entries for Base Station Systems GPRS Protocol (BSSGP) Virtual Circuit Identifiers (BVCIs) under the de- allocated NSEI are also removed by the SGSN.
Système et procédé appliqués dans un réseau de services généraux radio par paquets (GPRS) afin de configurer automatiquement des identificateurs d'entité de services de réseaux (NSEI) dans un système de stations de base (BSS (32)) et un noeud serveur de support de GPRS (SGSN(33)) quand le BSS est reconfiguré. On modifie l'opération de l'interface Gb entre le BSS et le SGSN afin qu'elle utilise le protocole Internet (IP) et on configure le BSS et le SGSN afin de les exécuter sur IP. Lorsqu'on ajoute une nouvelle entité de services de réseaux (NSE) (57) à un BSS existant ou qu'on ajoute un nouveau BSS au réseau, le BSS envoie automatiquement (52) un message modifié de remise à zéro du service de réseau (NS') au SGSN demandant un NSEI. Le SGSN affecte dynamiquement (53) un NSEI libre depuis un groupement de NSEIs et l'envoie (54) au BSS. Quand on supprime un NSE (61) du BSS, le BSS envoie automatiquement (62) un message modifié de remise à zéro de NS' au SGSN afin de libérer un NSEI. Le SGSN supprime l'affectation (63) du NSEI et retourne ce NSEI au groupement de NSEis libres. Le SGSN supprime également toutes les entrées apparentées des identificateurs de circuits virtuels (BVCIs) du protocole GPRS du système de stations de base se trouvant sous le NSEI dont on a supprimé l'affectation.
