A method and apparatus for testing a network having a plurality of nodes (24). The method includes sending commands to one or more traffic agents (60) connected to the network (20) and to at least one network management agent (70) coupled to a respective node (24) of the network (20), transmitting data from at least one of the traffic agents (60) over the network responsive to the commands, determining network information at the at least one network management agent (70) responsive to the commands and to transmission of the data through the respective node, and receiving and evaluating the network information to assess a state of the network.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un appareil servant à tester un réseau comprenant plusieurs noeuds (24). Ce procédé consiste à envoyer des instructions à un ou plusieurs agents de trafic (60) connectés au réseau (20) et à au moins un agent de gestion de réseau (70) couplé à un noeud correspondant (24) du réseau (20), à transmettre des données provenant d'au moins l'un des agents de trafic (60) sur le réseau en réponse à ces instructions, à déterminer des informations relatives au réseau au niveau de l'agent ou des agents de gestion de réseau (70) en réponse à ces instructions et en réponse à la transmission des données à travers le noeud correspondant, puis à recevoir et à évaluer ces informations relatives au réseau, afin de déterminer l'état du réseau.
