Methods and compositions are provided for determining a genotype associated with increased susceptibility to manic-depressive illness. The genotype is determined using markers for a region of chromosome 18 exhibiting linkage disequilibrium with manic-depressive illness. The invention also provides for a novel myo-inositol monophosphatase protein encoded for on chromosome 18.
L'invention porte sur des techniques ainsi que sur les compositions afférentes permettant de déterminer un génotype associé à une sensibilité accrue à la psychose maniaco-dépressive. On détermine ce génotype à l'aide de marqueurs pour une région du chromosome 18 présentant un déséquilibre de liaison avec ladite psychose. Cette invention concerne également une nouvelle protéine myo-inositol monophosphatase codée sur le chromosome 18.
