An apparatus for inhibiting unwanted plant growth around trees and posts. The apparatus includes a tray having a peripheral edge and a recessed bowl spaced from the peripheral edge. The recessed bowl has a central opening to accommodate at tree or post. A passage is provided for insertion of the tree or post, extending from the peripheral edge to the opening in the recessed bowl. The passage is bordered by resealable interlocking edges.
