The present invention teaches a system having reduced quiescent current drawn from a power supply. The system comprises a device having a status. Moreover, the system comprises a microcontroller, having an active and a sleep mode of operation, for polling the status of the device during the active mode, initiating a function in response to a change in the status during the active mode, and for conserving quiescent current drawn from the power supply during the sleep mode. According to the present invention, the microcontroller generates an output signal at a first voltage level during the active mode and generates the output signal at a second voltage level during the sleep mode. The microcontroller, additionally, comprises a sensor for switching the microcontroller from the sleep mode to the active mode. Furthermore, the system comprises a storage device for charging to the first voltage level during the active mode, and for discharging to a third voltage level during the sleep mode for triggering the sensor to switch from the sleep mode to the active mode.
L'invention concerne un système permettant de limiter le courant de repos tiré d'une source d'énergie. Ce système comprend un dispositif possédant un état. De plus, ce système comprend un microcontrôleur pouvant fonctionner en mode actif et en mode de veille et servant à interroger l'état du dispositif pendant le mode actif, à déclencher une fonction en réaction à une modification de l'état en mode actif et à conserver l'arrivée du courant de repos depuis la source d'énergie pendant le mode de veille. D'après l'invention, le microcontrôleur génère un signal de sortie à un premier niveau de tension pendant le mode actif et génère le signal de sortie à un deuxième niveau de tension pendant le mode de veille. Ce microcontrôleur comprend, de plus, un capteur servant à le commuter depuis le mode de veille jusqu'au mode actif. Ce système comprend, de plus, un dispositif d'accumulation servant à charger le premier niveau de tension pendant le mode actif et à le décharger afin d'obtenir un troisième niveau de tension pendant le mode de veille, de manière à déclencher la commutation par le capteur depuis le mode de veille jusqu'au mode actif.
