An electrospray interface for forming ions from a liquid sample in a mass analyzing system includes a capillary tube having a free end for introducing a spray of droplets into an ionization chamber, a first gas passageway positioned near the capillary tube for directing a first gas stream into the ionization chamber, and a second gas passageway positioned more remotely from the capillary tube for directing a second, low-velocity gas stream into the ionization chamber. The second gas stream is heated to increase the droplet desolvation rate. A heated sampling capillary having an end extending into the ionization chamber guides the analyte ions toward a mass analyzer and evaporates the solvent from any incompletely desolvated droplets entering the sampling capillary.
L'invention concerne une interface d'électropulvérisation permettant de former des ions à partir d'un échantillon de liquide dans un système d'analyse de masse et comprenant un tube capillaire présentant une extrémité libre permettant d'introduire une pulvérisation de gouttelettes dans une chambre d'ionisation, un premier passage de gaz positionné à proximité du tube capillaire, aux fins de direction d'un premier flux gazeux dans la chambre d'ionisation et un second passage de gaz positionné de manière plus éloignée du tube capillaire, aux fins de direction d'un second flux gazeux à faible vitesse dans la chambre d'ionisation. Le second flux gazeux est chauffé afin d'accroître la vitesse de désolvation des goulettes. Un capillaire d'échantillonnage chauffé présentant une extrémité s'étendant dans la chambre d'ionisation guide les ions de l'analyste en direction d'un analyseur de masse et évapore le solvant de gouttelettes ayant subi une désolvation incomplète quelconques entrant dans le capillaire d'échantillonnage.
