2113544 9303355 PCTABS00019 A device is described for sensing volatile materials, the device comprising: a) a plurality of sensors each comprising a pair of spaced-apart electrical contacts (12) and a semi-conductor polymer extending between the contacts, wherein the polymer is such that its electrical resistance can change when exposed to a volatile material; and b) means for measuring the electrical resistance (or a parameter varying therewith) of the semi-conductor polymer of each sensor. The distance between the contacts across which the polymer extends is up to 25 µm, or in the range of 7 to 13 µm, more preferably 9 to 11 µm and most preferably about 10 µm.
