A method and system for collecting sludge through a header. Telescopic pipes (102, 104) are in a line adjacent to the bottom of a basin. Headers (132) collect the sludge for removal from the basin through the pipes. The system is in a space of a low clearance height under the equipment that extends downwardly near the bottom of the basin.
