The invention provides a method of preparing regioregular HT poly(3-substituted- thiophene). The method includes contacting a 3-substituted-thiophene-metal complex with a manganese(II) halide to provide a 3-substituted-thio.rho.hene-manganese complex; and contacting the thiophene-manganese complex with a nickel(II) catalyst to provide the regioregular HT poly(3-substituted-thiophene). The substitution at the 3-position can be a variety of different groups. Additionally, unsubstituted and 3,4- disubstituted polythiophenes can also be prepared by the method. Electronic devices can be made using the polymers prepared as described herein.
La présente invention concerne une méthode de synthèse de poly(thiophène 3-substitué) HT régiorégulier. La méthode inclut la mise en contact d'un complexe thiophène 3-substitué-métal avec un halogénure de manganèse(II) pour obtenir un complexe thiophène 3-substitué-manganèse; et la mise en contact du complexe thiophène-manganèse avec un catalyseur au nickel(II) pour obtenir le poly(thiophène 3-substitué) HT régiorégulier. La substitution en position 3 peut être le fait de divers groupements différents. En outre, les polythiophènes non substitués et 3,4-disubstitués peuvent également être synthétisés par cette méthode. Des dispositifs électroniques peuvent être fabriqués par emploi des polymères synthétisés comme décrit dans la présente invention.
