Le procédé consiste à diriger, sur la face principale (3) de la bande (1) opposée à la face prin- cipale (2) recevant le jet du chalumeau d'oxycoupage (18) et dans la zone de découpage de la bande (1), un jet de fluide inerte vis à vis du jet du chalumeau (18). La présente invention a également pour objet un dispositif pour la mise en oeuvre de ce pro- cédé. Fig. 1
