A system (100) for preventing access to a vehicle. The system includes a substance detector (200) configured to detect a level of at least one substance ingested by a user and a blocking device (210) in communication with the substance detector where the blocking device disables the operability of at least one key (270). The blocking device enables the operability of the key when the level of the substance is measured by the substance detector to be within a predetermined range.
