Wood products impregnated with from 30 to 80 % of a polymerizable monomer selected from the group consisting of hexanediol diacrylate and hexanediol dimethacrylate have excellent indent resistance. The wood products are impregnated with the monomer solution by placing the wood under a vacuum to remove air, contacting the wood with a monomer solution containing a polymerizable hexanediol diacrylate and/or hexanediol dimethacrylate monomer and from 0.5 to about 2 percent of a thermally activated free radical source as a polymerization initiator for a period sufficient to achieve the desired polymer loading. The wood is then heated under pressure to polymeric or cure the monomers.

Des produits en bois imprégnés de 30 à 80 % d'un monomère polymérisable, choisi dans le groupe composé de diacrylate d'hexanediol et de diméthacrylate d'hexanediol, ont une excellente résistance aux entailles. Pour imprégner les produits en bois de la solution monomère, on place le bois sous un aspirateur pour en enlever l'air, on le met en contact avec une solution monomère contenant un diacrylate d'hexanediol polymérisable et/ou un monomère de diméthacrylate d'hexanediol, et de 0,5 à environ 2 pour-cent d'une source de radicaux libres thermo-activée comme initiateur de polymérisation, pendant une période suffisante pour réaliser la charge en polymère désirée. Le bois est alors chauffé sous pression pour polymériser ou durcir les monomères.
