A method for minimizing wastewater discharge generated in an ion exchange regeneration system having a cation exchange bed (7) and an anion exchange bed (8), which method is characterized in that all of the segments of regenerant and displacement rinse are recirculated in a common loop, and shifted forward by one position, whereby the first segment is discarded in the subsequent cycle, and the last segment in the subsequent cycle is provided by fresh rinse, while chemicals are added as necessary, and in final rinse cycle, rinse flows through the cation exchange bed (7) and the anion exchange bed (8) in series, and recirculates in a loop, thereby eliminating over 90 % of waste.

Procédé permettant de réduire fortement la production d'eaux usées d'un système de régénération à échange d'ions comportant un lit (7) d'échange de cations et un lit (8) d'échanges d'anions. Le procédé est caractérisé par le fait que l'ensemble des segments de produits de rinçage de régénération et de déplacement sont refoulés dans une boucle commune et décalés vers l'avant d'une position. Ainsi le premier segment est rejeté lors du cycle suivant, et le dernier segment du cycle suivant est constitué d'un produit de rinçage neuf, des produits chimiques étant ajoutés suivant les besoins. Lors du rinçage final, le produit de rinçage s'écoule à travers le lit (7) d'échange de cations et le lit (8) d'échange d'anions en série, puis est renvoyé dans une boucle, éliminant ainsi plus de 90 % des déchets.
