An image quality correction circuit having a variable gain amplifier for amplifying an extracted high-frequency component of a luminance signal in such a manner that the gain thereof is increased when detected color density is high, and is reduced when the detected color density is low, and a slice circuit for slicing the outputted amplitude of the variable gain amplifier at a prescribed value, wherein a corrected luminance signal is obtained by combining an image quality correction signal outputted from the slice circuit with the luminance signal to be corrected.

L'invention est constituée par un circuit de correction de la qualité des images comportant un amplificateur à gain variable qui sert à amplifier une composante haute fréquence extraite d'un signal de luminance de telle façon que l'amplification de cette composante augmente quand la densité de couleur détectée est élevée et diminue quand la densité de couleur détectée est faible, et un circuit de découpage qui sert à découper l'amplitude du signal de sortie de l'amplificateur à gain variable à une valeur prescrite, le signal de luminance corrigé étant obtenu en combinant le signal de correction de la qualité des images produit par le circuit de découpage et le signal de luminance corrigé.
