Methods and systems disclosed herein are used to automate inventory and dispatch procedures at a staging area by automatically detecting the arrival or departure of delivery vehicles (16), container devices (18) and other such items. Detection of these items is facilitated by the use of automatic identification tags (14), and other such devices, that are physically associated with each such item. According to one aspect of the invention, the detection of inbound vehicles and related container devices (18) triggers a series of automated communications that facilitate the dispatch of such items within the staging area. Additionally, when a delivery vehicle or container device (18) departs, the system can be configured to check the tag (14) or device associated with each such item so as to confirm that the correct container device(s) (18) are associated with the correct outbound delivery vehicle (16). The system further provides a method of tracking inventories of such items in real time.

L'invention concerne des procédés et des systèmes destinés à automatiser des opérations d'inventaire et de distribution au niveau d'une aire d'entreposage temporaire par détection automatique de l'arrivée ou du départ de véhicules de transport, de conteneurs et d'autres éléments de ce type. La détection de ces éléments est facilitée par utilisation d'étiquettes d'identification automatique et d'autres dispositifs de ce type associés physiquement à chacun des éléments. Selon un aspect de l'invention, la détection de véhicules à l'arrivée et de conteneurs associés déclenche une série de communications automatisées facilitant la distribution de ces éléments dans l'aire d'entreposage temporaire. En outre, lors du départ d'un vehicule de transport ou d'un conteneur, le système peut vérifier l'étiquette ou le dispositif associé à chaque élément de manière à confirmer que le ou les bons conteneurs sont associés au bon véhicule de transport en partance. Ledit système fait également appel à un procédé destiné à suivre les inventaires de ces éléments en temps réel.
