A magnetically levitated axleless wheel system provides infinite degrees of freedom in horizontal movement. The spherical rotor assembly comprises a plurality of permanent magnets which are arranged so as to expose the same polarity on the entire surface of the rotor assembly facing the stator assembly. The concave stator assembly comprises permanent or electro-magnets which are arranged so as to expose the same polarity on the entire surface of the stator assembly facing the rotor assembly. The magnetic repulsion force between the rotor assembly and the stator assembly produces an air-gap which permits omni-directional horizontal movement of the axleless wheel system. This invention relates to magnetic levitation, and the principal use of the invention is for friction-less transport, cushion and suspension devices.
