A closure for attachment to a carton. The closure comprises a base (10) and a cover (18). The base includes a debossment or trough (306) which facilitates adhesion of the closure to the carton, e.g. with hot melt. The surface of the carton to which the closure is being attached may have a debossment instead of or in addition to that of the closure.
