The present invention relates to a method of preparing heterocyclic organic com-pounds involving intramolecular formation of an N-acyliminium ion and an in-tramolecular Pictet-Spengler reaction. The invention furthermore discloses precursor molecules useful for the method and methods of preparing these precursor mole-cules.
