A scanning device for the point-by-point photoelectric scanning of a photographic film (F) includes a transport arrangement (51, 52, 120, 53) for the transporting of the film (F) along a transport path (P) through a scanning zone (60), a guide arrangement (100) for the guiding and positioning of the film (F) in the scanning zone, an illuminating arrangement (81, 82) for exposing the film (F) in the scanning zone with measuring light, a photoelectric converter arrangement (85) for converting the measuring light transmitted through the film (F) into corresponding electrical signals, and optical means (83, 84) for guiding the measuring light transmitted through the scanned film (F) onto the photoelectric converter arrangement (85). The guide arrangement includes a preferably motor-driven selectively adjustable, moveable platform (100) positioned in the scanning zone (60), which is constructed for the mechanical guiding and positioning of films (F) of at least two different formats. The automatic adjustment of the moveable platform (100) is effected by a sensor (140) for detecting the format of the film to be scanned (F) as well as a control (S) cooperating with the sensor. The scanning device includes a first entry (21) for the in line supply of films to be scanned from an upstream film processor as well as a second entry (22) for the manual feeding of films. A severing arrangement (14, 15) is provided upstream of the first entry (21) which severs from the film the leader card (L) connected with the film to be scanned (F), whereby transport means (11) are provided for the guiding of the film (F) into the first entry (21) after removal of the leader card (L). The scanning device permits the processing of films of different formats and is especially well-suited for use in a digital photographic copier. (Figure 2)
