The invention concerns a method and a device for shaping plastic optical lenses (10) by chip removal. The invention is characterized in that the chips are removed by turning. Moreover, the location at which the chip is to be removed on the lens (10) is subjected to punctual cooling, by means of a nozzle (36), at a temperature whereat the plastic material is embrittled such that the chip is broken into bits and can be evacuated by suction.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour façonner des lentilles (10) optiques en plastique par enlèvement de copeaux. Selon l'invention, l'enlèvement de copeaux est effectué par tournage. Par ailleurs, l'emplacement auquel un copeau doit être enlevé sur la lentille (10) est refroidi ponctuellement, au moyen d'une buse (36), à une température à laquelle la matière plastique se fragilise à tel point que le copeau se brise en morceaux et puisse être évacué par aspiration.
