The invention relates to an improved mixing arrangement for, primarily, moving bitumen in steam from sources of such bitumen and steam to a reactor or coker for further processing of the bitumen into petroleum products. The invention provides a main conduit connected to an atomizing nozzle mounted in a wall of the reactor and first and second conduits for flowing bitumen and steam respectively into the main conduit. The first conduit is angled relative to the main conduit at an acute angle of about 45° and the second conduit is angled relative to the main conduit at an acute angle of about 30°. The second conduit is positioned upstream of the first conduit by a short distance of about 23mm and may be angled radially relative to the first conduit by any angle, although a 90° angle is preferred. A flow accelerating nozzle is located in the second conduit adjacent the entrance therefrom into the main conduit. The arrangement of the invention improves the flow characteristics of 2-phase material flowing to the atomizing nozzle, reducing pulsations in the main conduit and improving the resulting atomization of the bitumen in the reactor.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de mélange amélioré permettant, pour l'essentiel, de déplacer du bitume dans de la vapeur à partir de sources dudit bitume et de la vapeur vers un réacteur ou un cokeur pour traiter plus en profondeur le bitume dans des produits de pétrole. L'invention prévoit un conduit principal relié à une buse de pulvérisation montée dans une cloison du réacteur et un premier et un second conduits pour l'écoulement respectif du bitume et de la vapeur dans le conduit principal. Le premier conduit forme un angle aigu d'environ 45° par rapport au conduit principal; le second conduit forme un angle aigu d'environ 30° par rapport au conduit principal. Le second conduit est positionné en amont du premier conduit, sur une courte distance d'environ 23 mm, et il peut former un certain angle radial par rapport au premier conduit, un angle de 90° étant préférable. Une buse d'accélération d'écoulement est installée dans le second conduit à côté de l'admission menant au conduit principal. L'agencement prévu par l'invention améliore les caractéristiques d'écoulement du matériau diphasique acheminé vers la buse de pulvérisation, en réduisant les impulsions dans le conduit principal et en améliorant la pulvérisation résultante du bitume dans le réacteur.
