Method and apparatus for optimizing registration and paging in a group communication system use mobility of the mobile stations (104, 106) to minimize the frequency of registrations performed by the mobile stations as well as the area of paging the mobile stations. When the mobile stations have a low mobility status, the base station (110) reduces the area of paging the mobile stations so that the paging channel load is reduced.

Le procédé décrit dans l'invention consiste à utiliser la mobilité de stations mobiles pour réduire la fréquence des enregistrements effectués par les stations mobiles ainsi que la zone de radiomessagerie des stations mobiles.
