Abstract An external wall element for buildings The external wall element has an outer pane (10) with lens-like holographic elements (14). On the inner pane (11), radiation receiving elements (15) for generating energy are arranged in the focal plane of the hologra- phic elements (14). The incident light may either be focussed on the radiation receiving elements (15) or on translucent portions of the inner pane. The exter- nal wall element optionally permits the generation of energy or reflection, transmission of diffuse light being effected in both cases. (Fig. 2)
