Disclosed is a method of increasing the low shear rate viscosity and the shear thinning index of aqueous fluids containing a divalent cation salt, a crosslinked amylopectin starch which functions as both a viscosifier/suspending agent and as a fluid loss control additive, and a bridging agent, the fluids resulting from the method, and the use of the fluids in drilling a well, wherein the bridging agent is a sized particulate magnesium carbonate or a mixture of sized magnesium carbonate and sized calcium carbonate. The median (D50) particle size of the magnesium carbonate is from about 2 µm to about 10 µm. The weight ratio of calcium carbonate to magnesium carbonate is from about 70/30 to about 0/100.

Divulgation d'une méthode pour augmenter la viscosité à bas taux de cisaillement et l'indice de fluidification de liquides aqueux contenant un sel cationique divalent, un amidon amylopectinique réticulé agissant à la fois comme améliorant de l'indice de viscosité/agent de suspension et comme additif de de contrôle de la perte de fluide, ainsi qu'un agent de pontage. Divulgation aussi des fluides obtenus grâce à cette méthode, de l'utilisation de ces fluides pour le forage d'un puits. L'agent de pontage est un carbonate de magnésium formé de particules calibrées ou un mélange de carbonate de magnésium et de carbonate de calcium formés de particules calibrées. La taille médiane (D50) des particules de carbonate de magnésium est d'environ 2 µm à environ 10 µm.
