The invention provides a method and a transparent housing cover for a meter index for communicating optical signals through an optical port formed on a front face of the transparent housing cover, for further communicating optical signals in a straight line past one side of the meter index,- and for re-directing the optical signals at an angle of approximately ninety degrees to or from an optical transceiver. The cover includes an integrally formed light pipe, the light pipe further forming the optical port near the front of the body and the light pipe extending along one side of the body and behind the meter index; and the light pipe includes a surface at a back end for reflecting light at approximately ninety degrees to and from a light transceiver positioned behind the meter index.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un couvercle de boîtier transparent pour un index de compteur destiné à communiquer des signaux optiques par l'intermédiaire d'un port optique formé sur la face avant du couvercle de boîtier transparent, destiné à communiquer d'autres signaux optiques selon un trajet en ligne droite d'un côté de l'index du compteur, -et pour rediriger les signaux optiques à un angle d'approximativement quatre-vingt-dix degrés vers ou depuis un émetteur récepteur optique. Le couvercle inclut une tubulure de lumière formée de manière intégrée, la tubulure de lumière formant en outre le port optique à proximité de l'avant du corps et la tubulure de lumière s'étendant le long d'un côté du corps et derrière l'index du compteur. Et la tubulure de lumière inclut une surface au niveau d'une extrémité arrière destinée à réfléchir la lumière à approximativement quatre-vingt-dix degrés vers et depuis un émetteur récepteur de lumière positionné derrière l'index du compteur.
