The present invention relates to the selection of materials which are particularly useful as fluid distribution material for being used in disposable absorbent articles by being characterised in that they have a wicking time of less than 120 seconds and a cumulative flux of more than 0.075 grams/cm2/ second for said preferential fluid distribution direction at 12.4 cm height, when applying the Vertical Wicking Test. A further useful selection criterion for such materials is a non-isotropic fluid distribution behaviour, expressed in that the wicking time in the preferential distribution direction is less than 80 % of the wicking time of perpendicular direction at 8.3 cm height, when applying the same test.
La présente invention se rapporte à la sélection de matériaux particulièrement utiles en tant que matériaux de répartition de fluides, destinés à des articles absorbants jetables. Ces matériaux se caractérisent par un temps d'imbibition par capillarité inférieur à 120 secondes et par un flux total supérieur à 0,075 grammes/ cm?2¿/ seconde, dans la direction préférentielle de répartition des fluides et sur une hauteur de 12,4 cm, lors de l'essai d'imbibition par capillarité verticale. Un autre critère utile pour la sélection de tels matériaux est le comportement non isotrope de la répartition des fluides, qui se traduit par une durée d'imbibition par capillarité dans la direction préférentielle de répartition représentant moins de 80 % de la durée d'imbibition par capillarité dans la direction de répartition perpendiculaire, sur une hauteur de 8,3 cm, lors de la mise en oeuvre du même essai.
