Abstract A grinding apparatus (10), in particular for vibrating grinding of the surface of a pipe (25) or the like, exhibits a holding element (12), which is designed with at least an approximately semi-round, cylindrical opening (18), whose interior has attachment means for securing the grinding tool. A cavity (14), which forms the opening (18), is affixed to the holding element (12); and a Velcro fastener strip (16), by means of which sand paper that is also provided with a Velcro fastener, can be attached removeably, is attached as the attachment means for the grinding tool to the interior of the cavity (14). In addition, the holding element (12) is dimensioned in accordance with the grinding plate (23) of a hand grinder (20) and has on its underside a Velcro fastener strip (12'), which can be attached to the grinding plate (23). With this grinding apparatus according to the invention, workpieces, like pipes, profiles, squared timber or the like, can be ground, cleaned, polished or also roughened in a very simple and economical manner.
