This invention is a method of manufacturing high-power sandwich type ultrasonic transducers (82), and more particularly, a new method of tuning high-power sandwich type ultrasonic transducers (86) without the need for a trimming process. A method in accordance with the present invention includes the steps of assembling a sandwich type ultrasonic transducer (82), measuring the resonant frequency of the ultrasonic transducer (82), and selecting from a plurality of tuning elements (50), whereby a dimension or material property of a selected tuning element alters the measured resonant frequency of the ultrasonic transducer (82) to a desired resonant frequency after the tuning element (50) is attached to the ultrasonic transducer (82).

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de transducteurs (82) ultrasoniques du type sandwich de grande puissance, et plus particulièrement un nouveau procédé d'accordage de transducteurs (86) ultrasoniques du type sandwich de grande puissance qui ne nécessite pas de processus d'ajustage. Le procédé de l'invention comporte les étapes consistant à : assembler un transducteur (82) ultrasonique du type sandwich, mesurer la fréquence de résonance du transducteur (82) ultrasonique, et opérer une sélection dans un groupe constitué par plusieurs éléments (50) d'accordage. Grâce à une caractéristique de dimension ou de matière de l'élément d'accordage sélectionné, on peut modifier la fréquence de résonance mesurée du transducteur (82) ultrasonique pour obtenir une fréquence de résonance voulue après fixation de l'élément d'accordage (50) au transducteur (82) ultrasonique.
