A photonic device/a method of forming a photonic device comprising a length of optical fibre [11] loaded in tension over a portion of its length, an in-fibre Bragg grating [14] formed within the tensile loaded portion of the length of fibre, two longitudinally spaced apart supports for the fibre [10], longitudinally aligned channels [19] in the supports, for receiving the fibre, a carrier [12] in which the supports are located, and glass solder [21] contained within the channel anchors the embedded fibre to the support, the supports being formed from a material that has a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than that of the glass solder.

Composant photonique et procédé servant à créer un composant photonique comprenant une longueur de fibre optique (11) chargée en tension sur une partie de sa longueur, un réseau de Bragg (14) constitué à l'intérieur de la partie chargée par traction de la longueur de la fibre, deux supports éloignés l'un de l'autre sur la longueur de la fibre (10) afin de la soutenir, des canaux (19) alignés dans un sens longitudinal dans les supports, de manière à loger la fibre, un appui (12) dans lequel sont placés les supports, une soudure vitreuse (21) contenue à l'intérieur des canaux afin d'ancrer la fibre noyée au support, ces supports étant constitués par un matériau possédant un coefficient de dilatation thermique supérieur à celui de la soudure vitreuse.
