ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An inductive flow meter is used to measure the flow of electrically conductive liquids through an electrically isolating section of a flow channel, provided with diametrically opposed punctual elec- trodes and crossed in this area by a transversal magnetic field. In order to reduce the influence of the path of the current concentration in the area next to the electrodes when the flow is unevenly distributed across the channel cross-section, which could falsify the measurement signal, magnetic return branches separated by gaps are arranged outside the flow channel. The gaps are located, in relation to a cross-section, in areas next to the punctual elec- trodes at the periphery of the flow channel, so that the magnetic field lines of the magnetic return, that extend across the gaps, extend across the inside of the flow channel as well, in areas next to the electrodes or in marginal areas downstream and upstream of the latter.
