The present invention provides multiple foci so that a user may enter input into multiple objects having to switch between them. This may be accomplished by mapping certain types of input events to specific objects within the graphical user interface. Thus, when inputs of a certain type are received, one focus is utilized, wherein when inputs of another type are received, a different focus may be utilized.
