Method related to solid supports for hybridization are disclosed. The present invention provides procedures for preparing solid supports, and their use in hybridization assays, such that non-specific background on the solid supports is reduced. The reduction of non-specific background permits the detection of low levels of specific binding which normally would be masked by the non- specific binding. The methods are applicable to a variety of target ligands and probes, including nucleic acids such as oligonucleotides.

L'invention concerne des procédés relatifs aux supports solides destinés à l'hybridation. Elle décrit des techniques de préparation des supports solides, ainsi que leur utilisation dans des analyses d'hybridation, de façon à réduire un fond non spécifique couvrant les supports solides. La réduction du fond non spécifique permet de détecter des taux faibles de fixations spécifiques, qui normalement seraient masquées par les fixations non spécifiques. Ces procédés peuvent être appliqués à divers ligands cibles et sondes, entre autres aux acides nucléiques tels que les oligonucléotides.
