ABSTRACT A safety valve for sealed containers which includes a valve body having a gas discharge hole, and a rubber band tightly enclosing the valve body. A sharp annular projection having a sloped annular wall is formed around the gas discharge hole of the valve body. In one alternative form, a separate supporting plate is installed at the rear of the valve body, and the supporting plate is provided in different forms, such that it is provided with a pair of notches and a sloped face so as to be coupled with a pair of protuberances and a sloped face of the valve body, or that it is provided with a pair of projecting flanges so as to receive the rear portion of the valve body. A wedge is inserted between the valve body and the supporting plate in order to adjust the tension of the rubber band.
