A system for automatically filling in web based forms and navigating web sites is provided. The system includes a web browser application resident and a browser control application, both of which are resident on the user's computer. The browser control application is configured to operatively couple with and control the browser application. The browser control application is further configured to control the navigation of the browser application by responding to coded instructions. The system also includes a data base file having at least one record, each record having a URL field and a soft coding field, each particular record having the URL of a particular web site in its URL field and a plurality of coded instructions for navigating the web browser through said web site in the soft coding field. The browser control application is configured to read the data file and extract the URL and the coded instructions contained in the record. The system may also include a data base updating application resident on a server, the data base updating application configured to periodically couple to the database file and update the soft coding fields of the records in the database files.
