Security and other alarm systems communicate alarm signals over telephone circuits to Central Station alarm receivers. If the telephone circuit is cut or otherwise fails, the alarm system can be defeated as the alarm signal is prevented from reaching the monitoring station, and there is no means of detecting the signal circuit failure. This invention is a process to use a verification call to the telephone circuit connected to the alarm system in a dual circuit system to protect against signal circuit tampering or failure.
