A toaster comprising a substantially parallelepipedic and thermally insulating box-type structure (1) in addition to at least one electric resistor (6) which is used as a radiating heating element and which is included in said box. The side walls (3, 4) of the box (1) are transparent. The invention makes it possible to visually monitor bread during toasting.
